Storybook Characters at ABCCA

Everyone dresses up as a storybook character one day every year at African Bible College Christian Academy. Later today I hope to post some pictures for you.

One student used egg cartons to make the back of a crocodile. It was superbly done, and he got a prize for the most original.

One little boy came as Tarzan, king of the apes. he even brought a big piece of vine with him. It was a pretty original thought.

The smallest guy came dressed as the man in the yellow hat (Curious George's owner). He looked special, and he won an award for the best homemade costume in his age group.

There were two age groups: Reception (K-4) through grade 2 and Grades three through five. One little guy had a box around him with a horses head on it, and he was dressed as a knight in shining armor. He won the award for most original costume in his age group. It's hard to believe how the people got into this thing.

They went all out to dress their children as a storybook character. I wanted to be Cinderella's cruel stepmother, but the top of the two-piece dress I tried on didn't fit, so I decided to be the pied piper.

A Malawian Teacher Assistant decided to be the Pied Piper, too, and he even came dragging two paper rats behind him on string. Somewhere he got ahold of some beady eyes to put on the rats, and he had a recorder to play a tune on.
